Negative Effects of Zoloft

Although most people tolerate Zoloft well, it is not free of negative effects. Because this medication is not suitable for everyone, talk to your healthcare provider about any possible problems that may apply to you. For instance, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of other medical conditions you have and other medications you are taking (including non-prescription medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements) before starting treatment with Zoloft.

Negative effects of this medication include potential side effects. Commonly reported ones include:

  • Nausea
  • Insomnia
  • Ejaculation problems
  • Diarrhea or loose stools
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth

Although negative effects of Zoloft tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated, there are some serious side effects that require medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you experience hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, or a fast heart rate.

Zoloft, one of Pfizer’s many medications and certainly one of its most lucrative, has been marketed as extremely safe and as a result been used widely. However, this drug may result in side effects or may have contraindications that no one was warned about, as many unhappy Zoloft users have found.

Though Pfizer now has openly accepted the fact that their manufactured drug Zoloft may increase suicidal behavior (and their warning labels speak to that side effect), those who have experienced this effect (or their families) may be able to file zoloft lawsuit against the drug maker.
